About Me
“”The essence of therapy is ‘walking’ alongside someone during a challenging part of their life journey, with compassion and honest connection.””
#15
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and psychodynamic principles in my psychology practice. My interest in neuro-science is also reflected in my work and I like to share neuro-scientific information to help people understand certain problems and the way forward. I was originally trained as a child and adolescent psychologist, which has helped me to always have a systemic perspective: we are all part of a family, work environment and/or social group and do not stand alone. Also, an interest in attachment style and difficulties underline my practice. I have had extensive training in trauma.
My Master Degree is from the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. I was born and raised in the Netherlands and my native language is Dutch. Since my mid twenties, I have mainly lived in New Zealand where I gained further training and experience which made me qualify to be registered as ‘Clinical Psychologist’.
I also resided in Switzerland for a period of time and this has equiped me with insights into Swiss culture, integration as a non-Swiss and raising children in Switzerland.
